A little bit about Red Beard
Oh hi guys!
I am a professional skipper and marine worker, who has been in the industry for over 17 years. The passion didn’t start there however! I started sailing when I was very young and got hooked straight away.
Having learnt to sail at Henley Sailing Club in various dinghies, I then competed around the country in inter-club matches and in particular the Salcombe Yacht Club Regatta, racing my National 12, since the late 90’s. I just want to be near the water all of the time, whether on a yacht, paddleboard or wake board.
In 2005, the day after my 21st birthday (maybe a slight error) I started work at Val Wyatt Marine, and stayed with them for 8 years. Here I picked up most of my maintenance and people skills before joining the Super Yacht scene in 2013. Being part of the deck crew on various sailing yachts, I got to work on and improve my customer service with some high end clients.
Bringing this wealth of knowledge back with me on a trans-Atlantic voyage, I decided to go out on my own as a freelance skipper, delivering various yachts up and down the coast, also having the chance to Captain a vessel out of the idyllic harbour of Salcombe in South Devon, which started the venture…
Red Beard Yachting.
What we can offer
Built in 1961, she is a fine example of the 33ft Bates StarCraft featuring an enviable aft cockpit complete with smart canopied cover which gives a launch type feel to the boat. A teak hull and decks are complemented by the mahogany wheelhouse and cabin structure.
There is straight access from the external area of the boat through the saloon and the leather seating area at the helm, where you can join our Skipper, who will indulge you with tales of the river bank.
Forward of the steering and passenger seating are the steps down to the contemporary galley to port and a renovated head to starboard complete with sink and vanity unit in mahogany with mixer taps for the basin.
Running from now until the end of September, we would like to offer evening sunset cruises from Henley or Marlow.
Picking up at 6.30pm from a designated spot, you, friends and family can cruise the reach with a glass of fizz in hand, provided by you or our catering team and take in the glorious sunset, before returning to where we started for the drop off at 8.30pm.

For the weekends, we offer great entertaining space whether in the saloon with its sofas or in the aft cockpit which is ideal for fine dining, provided by our Red Beard crew, or simply kick back, relax and watch the world go by.
